Ethanol production hits plateau in post-COVID recovery

August 31, 2020 |

In Washington, Reuters reports Energy Information Administration data shows the ethanol production and consumption rebound post-COVID-19 outbreak has plateaued with most recent production figures showing 931,000 barrels per day with the four-week average at 927,000 bpd. The previous four weeks were at similar levels but slightly lower. Stocks have also rebounded after a serious drawdown when demand was outweighing the ramp up in production. Summer driving season usually sees a bump in demand but with many people staying close to home due to the pandemic, the increase wasn’t as prominent as in typical years.
