Senator Grassley slams IRFA for pushing Trump too hard

In Iowa, the Hagstrom Report says Senator Chuck Grassley has slammed the state’s renewable fuels association for pushing President Trump too hard on the gap-year issue. Senator Joni Ernst, like President Trump, are in tough re-election races in November and having the SRE issue resolved before the election could be favorable to ethanol voters. Trump is at risk of upsetting the refinery industry, however, and losing those states if the decision is made before the election.
