Trailblazing natural mattress company celebrates 20 years

September 28, 2020 |

In New Jersey, a mattress manufacturer devoted to using natural materials is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Mark Tremlett and Peter Tindall founded Naturalmat in 2020 and have since grown the business to include mattresses, toppers, headboards, and bedding from renewable materials, including coconut husk and natural latex.   The duo were inspired by their love of sailing and efforts to replace uncomfortable, synthetic bedding materials on boats with natural alternatives.

Mattresses are produced from two pieces of natural latex foam sourced from rubber trees encased in organic lambswool with a layer of coconut husk in between.

Naturalmat was featured at this year’s Planted—dezeen’s design event that was remote this year due to COVID-19 but will debut as part of London Design Festival in 2021.
