Iowa Senator fighting tough re-election race with her biofuel track record in the spotlight

In Iowa, Platts reports that the democratic nominee for US Senator from Iowa hit hard at the incumbent Joni Ernst during a debate earlier this week, blaming the senator for voting to confirm the Environmental Protection Agency administrator despite him being a former oil lobbyist likely to continue issuing small refinery exemptions. The senator together with Senator Chuck Grassley have pushed hard for the White House to reduce the number of SREs, including the recent rejection of gap-year applications, and getting the EPA to replace the “missing” gallons in recent years’ blending obligations.
