BNDES approves funding for ethanol upgrade and cogeneration at Usina Laguna

In Brazil, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved financing for Usina Laguna, sugar cane, for the generation of renewable energy from sugarcane bagasse, expansion of storage capacity, increase in the crushing potential and investments in increasing and renewing its cane field.
With the project, the enterprise will have a production capacity – to supply the national integrated electricity system – of 30 Megawatts (MW), enough to supply 15,000 homes. In addition to increasing productivity and diversifying the plant’s sources of revenue, the investments will contribute to increasing sustainable biofuel production, maintaining energy security in Brazil and generating jobs in the region.
