W-Cycle producing bio-based CPET replacement with bagasse

October 1, 2020 |

In Israel, FoodNavigator reports that W-Cycle is producing a proprietary biodegradable packaging produced from sugarcane bagasse that can be used for “greasy, wet or hot” food and can replace CPET materials. The packaging is safe for freezer-to-over or to microwave, making it ideal for ready-made meals. Although it is currently produced from bagasse sourced from Asia, the company says any fibrous food waste could be used as feedstock. The company is seeking approval for the product to be considered “home compostable”.
