SOL and CropEnergies to invest $17.7M in biogenic CO2 recovery at BioWanze

In Italy, SOL Group has signed an agreement with CropEnergies to jointly invest in production facilities for the recovery of biogenic CO2 by alcoholic fermentation at the Belgian subsidiary of CropEnergies in Wanze. The investment of the two partners, amounting to €15 million, will be carried out at the site of BioWanze SA, where is located the largest Belgian ethanol production facility from renewable biomass, mostly replacing fossil fuel in transport. With start-up of operations scheduled for 2021, the plant will capture annually up to 65,000 metric tons of biogenic CO2 of the highest purity from the production of renewable ethanol, available for applications in the food, health, and environmental fields.
