Ethanol crush margins squeezed further by higher corn prices

In Texas, Platts reports it estimate for corn crushing margins for ethanol have been squeezed by rising corn futures prices to just 4.57 cents per gallon on Oct. 12 compared to 5.76 cents the week prior. Between Oct. 5 and Oct. 12, corn futures prices rose to $3.89/bu, an increase of 9.5 cents, following a bullish WASDE report that sent grains prices reeling. While corn prices rose significantly, Chicago Argo ethanol prices only rose 2.2 cents/gallon during the same period.
