In North Dakota, KX Net reports Midwest AgEnergy is drilling a test well for its carbon capture project at the Blue Flint ethanol plant. The proposed project would store 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually to help reduce the carbon footprint of the ethanol produced at the facility, opening it up to low carbon fuel markets like in California. Should the tests show that CO2 could be safely stored at the capacity expected, the project could be online by late 2022.
