Guatemala looking to finally blend ethanol in 2021

November 2, 2020 |

In Guatemala, Central America Data reports that the country is looking to finish up its E5 and E10 trials this month with an eye on introducing ethanol blending legislation during the first quarter of 2021. The only country in the region to not currently blend ethanol despite being one of the largest sugar exporters in the world, discussions on blending went quiet following the first pilot plans set in 2014 and 2015. The legislation under development is a result of a broad stakeholder engagement process led by the national energy and mines ministry, the renewable fuels association, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.
