In Washington, Platts reports D6 ethanol RINs jumps to 74 cents, the highest seen since February 2018, on the expectation that President-elect Joe Biden will ensure Renewable Fuel Standard compliance by oil refineries. Ethanol demand has suffered from significant volumes of small refinery exemptions during the four years of the Trump administration. Not only to analysts expect the future Biden administration to keep to the RFS as written but also expects to seek Congress approval for a new policy when the RFS expires in 2022.
