Pandemic-hit UCO supplies bad news for oil refiners looking to switch to renewable diesel

In California, Bloomberg reports that oil refiners hopes to shift quickly towards renewable diesel production will soon run up against a COVID-19 induced feedstock supply challenge. With many restaurants around the country closed due to the pandemic, the supplies for used cooking oil as feedstock has shrunk considerably. The case is especially true for California where the Low Carbon Fuel Standard has created a market based on high prices for low carbon intensity fuels, but feedstock is required.
