India sees E20 much sooner than 2030 thanks to boost in ethanol production

In India, the Hindu Business Line reports that government is looking at boosting ethanol blending to 20% in the wake of its progress in expanding feedstocks beyond sugarcane to include corn and rice. The E20 target had originally been envisioned for 2030 but with the recent approval of soft financing for nearly 4.7 billion liters of additional production capacity from sugarcane-based feedstocks, in addition to what’s possible from corn and rice, the goal of 20% ethanol could come true a lot sooner.
