Brazilian ethanol stocks on the rise but prices not under pressure

November 30, 2020 |

In Brazil, Platts reports that Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, or MAPA, data shows ethanol stocks rose in mid-November by 4.2% on the year to 11.84 billion liters with nearly 97% of those volumes located in the center-south region. Of that, about two-thirds of the ethanol is E100. But even though the pandemic has kept many drivers at home, reducing fuel demand, the extra inventories haven’t been weighing on prices as sugar mills switch to focusing on anhydrous ethanol production during the last part of the season to stave off the need for imports later on.
