Idled Big Ox Energy continues to leave legal challenges in its wake

December 24, 2020 |

In Iowa, the Sioux City Journal reports the mess around the idled Big Ox Energy biofuels plant continues to grow, with the City under pressure from lenders to pay millions in tipping fees to the company that has shuttered the facility since 2019. The City says it does not owe tipping fees, and what’s more, has filed a lawsuit seeking a declaratory judgement over the issue, as well as finding the company in breach of contract. Big Ox is meant to treat the city’s wastewater, so the City has ordered the company to resume operations.
