bluShift Aerospace set to test ethanol-fueled rocket

January 13, 2021 |

In Maine, Main Public reports that bluShift Aerospace is set to launch the world’s first ethanol-fuel rocket on Friday that will be carrying a sensor device designed by local high school students. The burn for the test flight is expected to last for 11 seconds, reaching an altitude of about 4,000 feet, just high enough to for the sensors to take atmospheric readings. The ethanol-powered engine was successfully tested earlier this month ahead of this week’s flight test.
