Maersk expects to order first carbon neutral ships in 2023

In Denmark, Ship and Bunker reports that Maersk expects to order its first carbon neutral fueled ships in 2023, likely dipping its toes into the waters with smaller container ships while it feels its way around new alternative fuels. By focusing on smaller vessels that can operate in a certain geographic area, the company can get its fuel supply chain in order before making its first purchases for larger vessels before 2030. Bloomberg reported last week that many ship owners are challenged by the uncertainty of future alternative fuels markets.
