In India, the Press Trust of India reports that the country has officially brought back the implementation of its 20% ethanol blending mandate to 2024/25, five years earlier than officially planned, in an effort to drastically reduce fossil fuel imports faster. A 10% blending target for 2022 remains in place, up from less than 1% blending against a 5% mandate in 2014. A total of 10 billion liters of ethanol production will be required to achieve the 20% blending mandate.
