New Mexico LCFS bill passes first Senate committee hurdle

In New Mexico, the Southern New Mexico Journalism Collaborative reports that Senate Bills 8 and 11, former tightening air pollution control laws and the latter which would create a low carbon fuel standard for the state, have passed their first hurdle by getting approval from the Senate Conservation Committee. Two more committees must approve the bills before reaching the Senate floor. The bills are heavily supported by Democrats but run up against opposition by Republicans.
