Uttar Pradesh greenlights use of sugarcane juice and syrup for ethanol

In India, the Newsroom Post reports that Uttar Pradesh’s cabinet has greenlighted the use of sugarcane juice and syrup to produce ethanol, which will help boost ethanol production at sugar mills while also reduce the surplus sugar production weighing on the market. UP is the largest sugar producing state in India as well as largest ethanol producer. More than 40 ethanol distilleries began producing ethanol from B-heavy molasses when the feedstock was deregulated and the same is expected to happen for juice and syrup.
