Ireland could help achieve 2030 goals by converting 700,000 homes to HVO heating

March 8, 2021 |

In Ireland, the Irish Examiner reports Firebird says that the 700,000 Irish homes burning fuel oil could switch their heating source to HVO for less than €400 which would have a major impact in helping to achieve the country’s 2030 carbon emissions reductions goals. The company’s three factories are powered by HVO. Ireland aims to get 600,000 homes up to minimum energy ratings by 2030 but with 84% of homes rated at C or less on the BER scale, it will be extremely difficult to achieve its goal.
