India approves E20 fuel blending

March 9, 2021 |

In India, Telangana Today reports that the government has approved the use of E20 for both passenger vehicles and two-wheelers with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways asking manufacturers to communicate vehicles’ compatibility with the higher blended fuel. The policy change comes following government fuel tests to ensure vehicle compatibility as well as draft policy released in December following public consultation. The government has been pushing for increased blending of ethanol to reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports and has announced the planned 20% blending mandate will be pushed forward to 2025.
