Shanghai achieves 100% B5 use in municipal buses

March 18, 2021 |

In China, People’s Daily Online reports the city of Shanghai’s municipal bus fleet moved to 100% B5 at the end of 2020, helping to get gutter oil out of the food supply chain and into clean fuel. Trials with B5 first began in 2013 and transition to B5 amongst the fleet began in earnest in 2018. UCO-based biodiesel is also cheaper than fossil diesel, helping to reduce fuel costs for the public transport system in addition to improving the health of local residents and the environment.
