EPA proposal would allow refiners more time to comply with 2019 and 2020 RVOs

March 24, 2021 |

In Washington, Reuters reports the Environmental Protection Agency has decided that it will allow refiners to prove compliance with 2020 blending volumes as late as Jan. 31, 2022 while it will allow small refiners to demonstrate compliance for 2019 by Nov. 30, 2021. The agency is currently finalizing the proposal to allow for the extensions. The RIN market has seen prices increasing steadily lately on the back of higher demand on the expectation that small refinery exemptions are all but a thing of the past.
