DOE BETO webinar on bioenergy high-priority topics

In Washington, D.C., the U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office will host a webinar on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 1 p.m.–2 p.m. ET. The webinar will feature BETO leadership detailing the Office mission and methods it uses to enable the U.S. bioeconomy.
The panel of speakers includes BETO’s:
- Valerie Sarisky-Reed, Acting Director
- Jay Fitzgerald, Chief Scientist
- Reyhaneh Shenassa, Chief Engineer
The panel will discuss high-priority BETO topics including:
- BETO program overviews – Learn more about BETO research and development efforts like feedstock technologies, advanced algal systems, conversion, and more.
- Advancements in marine and aviation biofuels – Explore how BETO is developing next generation aviation and marine fuels from waste and other renewable feedstocks.
- Plastics recycling initiatives – Understand how the Office accelerates innovations that will dramatically reduce plastic waste in oceans and landfills.
- Engaging farmers as clean energy partners – Discover how U.S. farmers can participate in the clean energy economy.
- Waste-to-Energy efforts – Find out how wet waste, solid waste, and gaseous waste streams can be high-impact resources for the domestic production of biofuels and bioproducts.
- CO2 utilization – Discover how BETO is establishing research strategies and technology pathways for converting gaseous feedstocks, such as biogas and carbon dioxide, into biofuels or bioproducts.
