In Argentina, the government of Córdoba established a $500 million fund for economic and financial assistance to those who want to buy biodiesel production plants for self-consumption. The projects that enter will be chosen through a committee.

The announcement was made by Governor Juan Schiaretti, who presented the 100% Biodiesel Self-Consumption Program. “We seek to promote self-production and self-consumption of Biodiesel Córdoba, industrializing regional economies, adding value to raw materials, strengthening production chains and generating employment,” he said.

The program aims to replace fossil fuels with biofuels to produce with energy autonomy. Schiaretti maintains a very active role in the defense of the biofuels sector and is one of those promoting the extension of the fiscal promotion law that has been in force since 2006 and expires on May 12.
