Over 230 Companies Complete Climate Neutral Certification

April 22, 2021 |

In California, More than 230 brands completed the rigorous certification process, overseen by Climate Neutral, to measure, offset, and reduce their 2020 “cradle-to-customer” greenhouse gas emissions, according to Climate Neutral, an independent nonprofit that provides a climate neutral certification for businesses.

Climate Neutral was launched in 2019 with an ambitious agenda to propel corporate action on climate through streamlined carbon measurement, mandatory carbon offsetting, emission reduction planning, and consumer labeling. The Climate Neutral Certified label provides customers with a trusted 3rd-party verification that a company has taken full responsibility for its collective carbon emissions from the previous year.

The number of certified brands has more than doubled over the past year, as Climate Neutral has worked to achieve large-scale carbon measurement and corporate action. To assist in measuring each brand’s carbon footprint, the nonprofit provides access to its carbon calculator built specifically to help measure corporate emissions. The Brand Emissions Estimator (the BEE) takes high-level business data and computes a carbon footprint, and has lowered the barriers to action for certified companies.
