In India, ChiniMandi reports the Uttar Pradesh government wants the state’s 120 sugar mills to begin producing medical grade oxygen in order to help fill the gap suffered by community health facilities inundated with out-of-control COVID-19 infections. The Hindu Business Line reports that more than 70 sugar mills in Maharashtra are already preparing to install medical oxygen facilities. Currently, 25 mills in the state already have oxygen production online. Technology providers in Asia including China and Taiwan have been approached to help speed up implementation.
