In Washington, Tesla is seeking to enter the multi-billion dollar U.S. renewable credit market, in hopes that renewable power production will be able to participate in the RIN market. The RIN market is currently dominated by ethanol, but sources say that if Tesla enters the market, the focus could divert to electricity produced from biogas. The Environmental Protection Agency is currently reviewing applications from the eight companies, a decision about which is expected this summer.
