In India, the Business Standard newspaper reports that Praj has successfully developed bio-bitumen from lignin using a proprietary process. The bio-bitumen has been certified by Netherlands-based Circular Biobased Delta through its CHAPLIN program. The bio-bitumen was produced from rice and wheat straw at its 2G Biorefinery Demo plant, which will now be scaled up to supply an asphalt trial on a test road strip in the Netherlands. As a result of the news, Praj’s stock price soared 8% on Tuesday.
