Valero’s renewable diesel commitment paying dividends

In Texas, My San Antonio reports that Valero has decided to “go all in” on renewable diesel, similar to other major oil refiners across the US, but the company already started conversions several years ago and began to truly reap rewards during the COVID-19 pandemic when others were suffering from lack of demand. With its overall GHG emissions already down 20% compared to 2011, the company expects to cut those emissions even further to 63% by 2025, although that figure does include offsets. With top executives’ pay tied to emissions reductions, there’s little choice but to follow the board’s lead and cut GHGs further.
