Vertoro scores $2.4M EU grant for lignin/2G ethanol plant in Rotterdam

June 29, 2021 |

In the Netherlands, Ship & Bunker reports that Vertoro has won a EUR2 million grant from the ReactEU program to build a 50,000 metric ton cellulosic ethanol facility and 125,000 ton lignin-based Goldilocks crude oil facility in Rotterdam. The project aims to use industrial wood residues such as sawdust as feedstock. The fuel it will produce could be fed into crackers and gasifiers or could be used as marine fuel for which the Port of Rotterdam is becoming a global hub.
