FAO and OECD report see Indonesia’s B30 driving biodiesel demand growth

July 7, 2021 |

In Indonesia, Platts reports the FAO and OECD’s most recent joint Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030 report says the agencies believe Indonesia will drive palm oil use as biodiesel feedstock throughout the rest of the decade because of its B30 blending mandate. The report attributes 2/3 of the 7% anticipated increase in biodiesel consumption through 2030 to Indonesia’s biofuel policy, growing 23.2% to 7.9 million metric tons. Despite the country’s aim to push further to B40, which has been delayed due to high palm oil prices, the agencies expect the country to remain at B30.
