#1 Travel is returning, and biobased luggage will help you do it more sustainably

In Berlin, luxury luggage brand Horizn Studios has unveiled a range of 100% plant-based luggage. Dubbed Circle One, the luggage uses BioX, a woven material made from flax that a byproduct of linseed production. This material is combined with an environmentally friendly resin to create a 100% biodegradable hard shell. The bag’s handles are infused with seeds and nutshells and the zippers are recycled.

“It’s time to get ready for a new era of travel, and to radically commit to the future of our planet,” says Stefan Holwe, co-founder and co-CEO of Horizn Studios. “We believe that in order to create results that contribute to a sustainable future, we need to stop celebrating unsustainable heritage materials, and instead seek new solutions and go further. Circle One luggage is designed to be repaired – not replaced.”

The bags don’t come cheap, however, retailing for about £650 ($900). They are expected to be available in the fall.
