In India, celebrity-favorite eyewear brand Luxottica is now selling its partially renewable “street style” eyewear brand, Arnette.

The company launched its first launched eyewear with biobased nylon in 2019 and has now reached 70% renewable content thanks to the addition of biobased acetate. Product packaging is also recycled plastic.

Music superstars Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber are reportedly fans of the brand.

The company´s brand manager, Suvashish Banerjee, brand manager, Luxottica Group, tells Mint that consumers in the region have indicated a preference for brands that are transparent. “Arnette, which is popular for its distinctive shapes and colors, echoes an easy-on-earth attitude,” he adds. “We have introduced the bio-acetate collection that is made from planet-friendly bio-based materials and bio-lenses, perfect for today’s green shoppers. We believe the brand will resonate well with today’s young consumers and Gen Z that will represent a major share of the Indian audience.”

The glasses will start at 3, 690 ($49) and will be available on major e-commerce sites and in retail stores in major Indian cities. Luxottica hopes to be in 500 stores by the end of the year.
