In a rare occurrence in the biobased economy, we saw more women on the move than men so far this summer. From Greenlane Renewables new Lead Director, Circa Group’s new CFO, U.S. Grains Council’s new Manager of Global Ethanol Market Development, and others, women took the lead over the past month or so with movements, promotions, appointments in the biobased sector. Greenlane Renewables Appoints Lead Director and Amends Omnibus Incentive Plan

In Canada, Greenlane Renewables Inc. appointed a current director of the Company, Ms. Elaine Wong, to the position of Lead Independent Director. Ms. Wong will remain a member of both the Audit and the Corporate Development Committee. The Company has also amended its Omnibus Incentive Plan to limit the value of grants to non-employee director awards.

The Company’s Omnibus Incentive Plan is being submitted for shareholder approval at the Company’s annual general meeting on June 23, 2021. The Board of Directors has now approved the inclusion of an annual value limit of $150,000 on the discretion to grant a non-employee director equity-based incentives (RSUs) pursuant to the Omnibus Incentive Plan. This Plan does not permit the grant of stock options to non-employee directors, so the limit for options is set at ‘Nil’. This limit is being added to reflect best practice in equity-based compensation plans that include non-employee directors.

Circa Appoints New CFO

In Norway, sustainable biochemicals company Circa Group AS appointed Tone Leivestad as CFO. Ms Leivestad will be based in Oslo and will start on 1 September.

Tone Leivestad is a senior finance professional with considerable experience in finance, consulting and industry. She has previously held Director roles, as Head of CFO Advisory/Consulting at both KPMG Norway and Accenture Norway, as well as Group CFO in top-tier operations.

Ms Leivestad is an important addition to the Circa executive management team as the company transitions into its scale-up phase and further establishes its presence across Europe. In addition, Ms Leivestad will be based in Oslo, Norway, enabling closer relations with the Norwegian, Nordic and European investor community following the recent listing on the Euronext Growth Oslo.

Qian Promoted To Manager Of Global Ethanol Market Development

In Washington, D.C., the U.S. Grains Council’s (USGC’s) Stella Qian was promoted to manager of global ethanol market development. Qian previously served the Council as manager of global ethanol programs.

In her new position, she will develop strategy in markets for expanded ethanol use by fostering strong relationships with domestic and international partners and activating resources that support of market development.

 

Nicola Noponen is appointed RSB Standards Director

In Switzerland, Nicola Noponen was appointed as the RSB Standards Director. Nicola has been a key member of RSB’s technical staff since November 2018 and has been closely involved in Standard Development work since then.

As lead for the Chemicals & Polymers sector, a role which she will retain, Nicola has an extremely strong foundation in RSB’s Advanced Products Standard. She also led the submission of RSB Standards documents for recognition under the EU RED II, bringing excellent experience in Standards development for fuels, to the role.

 

BioAgilytix Welcomes Amanda L. Hays, Ph.D. To Team As Scientific Officer

In North Carolina, BioAgilytix, a leading bioanalytical laboratory specializing in large molecule bioanalysis, welcomes Amanda L. Hays, Ph.D. to its team as Scientific Officer. Dr. Hays will provide consultative support to our clients and scientific advisory services to the BioAgilytix team in the development and implementation of strategies for bioanalytical assay development and regulated assay validation.

 

 

Nawa Technologies Appoints Reinhardt Peper as Chairman of The Board

In France, NAWA Technologies,, pioneers of advanced nano-materials for energy storage and advanced composite applications, welcomed Reinhardt Peper to the Board of Directors. The experienced automotive global business leader joins the company as Chairman, effective June 24 2021. The role of Chairman was previously held by Company Founder Pascal Boulanger, who remains a board member and will now concentrate solely on his responsibilities as CTO and COO of NAWA Technologies. Ulrik Grape, who joined the company in 2017, remains CEO.

Peper’s appointment is announced as NAWA undergoes significant growth and begins production of  revolutionary Vertically Aligned Carbon Nanotube (VACNT) material for multiple global applications

 

Amanda Keogh joins Circa Group as General Manager, Sustainability and Marketing

In Norway, sustainable biochemicals company Circa Group AS welcomed Amanda Keogh to the company as General Manager, Sustainability and Marketing, starting on 1 July 2021. Amanda has considerable experience in the development and implementation of sustainable practice with award-winning corporates in Ireland, Australia and Asia Pacific.

Following the successful IPO in March 2021, this new role increases Circa’s capability to engage with a wider range of stakeholders – including investors, governments and key end users.

 

Eco Wave Power Appoints Head of Portuguese Operation

In Sweden, global wave energy developer Eco Wave Power Global (formerly EWPG Holding AB) appointed Pedro Ernesto Ferreira as head of its Portuguese operations.

The news comes shortly after Eco Wave Power revealed the incorporation of a subsidiary in Portugal, which commenced the licensing process for first 1MW of the 20MW Concession Agreement entered with APDL in 2020.

Mr Ferreira will be overseeing Eco Wave Power’s activities in Portugal, including the licensing and the promotion of the APDL project, establishing contacts with additional sites and ports in Portugal which are interested in the Eco Wave Power technology, grant submission and day to day operations.

 

Personnel Changes at BASF Nutrition & Health – Thilo Bischoff appointed new Senior Vice President Human Nutrition

In Germany, BASF appointed Thilo Bischoff as Senior Vice President Human Nutrition effective June 1. With this new appointment, he succeeds Francois Scheffler who will leave BASF. Bischoff assumes global responsibility for the Human Nutrition business unit and will also represent the Nutrition & Health division in the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to this appointment, Bischoff served as Vice President for Product Management, Europe in the Performance Materials business division. In his new role as Senior Vice President for Human Nutrition, Bischoff will eventually be based out of Singapore, headquarters of the Human Nutrition business.

 

Jay Anders joins Rye Development, LLC as COO

In Massachusetts, Rye Development (Rye) announced that Jay Anders, P.E., joined the company as the Chief Operations Officer with a primary focus on the engineering, procurement, and construction of various hydropower projects in North America.

Anders joins Rye after spending the last 15 years in the hydropower consulting industry. Most recently, as the Associate Vice President and Deputy Director for Black & Veatch’s (BV) Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures Department.
