Crocs wants to put best food forward with net zero clogs

July 26, 2021 |

In Colorado, Crocs, Inc., best known for popularizing comfy foam clogs, is working on using more bio-based material as part of its commitment to be net zero by 2030.

The brand says the move is in line with its ethos that “everyone should be comfortable in their own shoes,” because addressing climate change will help “create a more comfortable world.”

The company says its shoes will be 100% vegan by the end of the year, and that it seeks to “[finalize] its approach to a more sustainable bio-based Croslite material.” Croslite is the predominant material use to produce Crocs, according to a press release. Crocs is also working to implement a recycling program for its iconic shoes.

“Taking action to reduce our environmental footprint by implementing more sustainable practices across our entire business is the right thing to do for Crocs,” says Crocs CEO Andrew Rees. “As a company, we are deeply committed to accountability and we’re confident that we have the right team, the right innovations and the right partners to help us achieve our net zero ambitions by 2030.”
