Glenfiddich producing biogas from distillery waste to fuel delivery trucks

July 29, 2021 |

In the UK, Reuters reports that Glenfiddich has launched an initiative to produce biogas from its whisky distillation waste that will in turn fuel its own delivery trucks, three of which have already been converted to run on biogas. Already, fueling stations at its Dufftown distillery have been installed. Previously the company, like most distillers, sold off the spent distillers grains to become animal feed but decided to switch to a circular model instead, adding value to its waste stream while reducing fueling costs and GHG emissions at the same time.
