Indian OMCs increase ethanol procurement nearly 10-fold since 2013/14

August 10, 2021 |

In India, Swarajya reports that oil marketing companies have increased ethanol procurement by nearly 10-fold since 2013/14 to 3.43 billion liters in 2020/21. As of August, nearly 2.1 billion liters have been delivered to OMCs around the country. The current marketing year for ethanol ends in November. Much of the increase in production has been a result of policy to not only boost ethanol blending but also to expand feedstocks beyond sugarcane molasses to include sugarcane juice and grains.
