India looking to transport ethanol via pipeline en masse

August 17, 2021 |

In India, ETnow and MoneyControl report the government wants to switch ethanol transportation to pipelines, as in Brazil, from current rail and truck transportation. Discussions with pipeline manufacturers for dedicated ethanol pipelines as well as the Indian Oil Corporation have been held. Already ethanol is expected to be shipped from IOC’s Barauni refinery in Bihar soon. The Indian government is focused on reducing the country’s greenhouse gas emissions as well as increasing energy sovereignty by moving away from fossil fuel imports in part through increased ethanol production and consumption.
