August 17, 2021 |

In Japan, Japan Times reports the government has announced a net zero policy for 2050 with airlines required to participate. As a result, national airlines are getting behind SAF in a big way in order to cut their emissions. Japan Airlines aims to cut its emission by 45% using first 10% SAF by 2030 with a big jump to 100% by 2040. All Nippon Airlines also plans to use SAF but hasn’t yet announced fixed targets. Domestic production of SAF is underway with both Euglena and now JGC Holdings set to produce SAF from used cooking oil.
