In India, the Business Standard newspaper reports 15 biofuel project proposals have been submitted to the state of West Bengal for approval. In an effort to achieve the national E20 blending mandate, the state is seeking to produce its own ethanol from its most abundant feedstock source, broken rice. The projects represent $362.3 million. In addition to ethanol blending, the state government has also introduce biodiesel blending, but the 15 projects submitted so far for approval are only for ethanol.
