Norwegian startup joins mushroom mania

September 20, 2021 |

In Oslo, startup NoMy has closed a seed funding to help advance its mycelium technology for end markets such as plant-based meat alternatives and bioplastics.

Founded in 2020 by tech entrepreneur Ingrid Dynna and microbiologist/organic restauranteur David Andrew Quis, NoMy’s process aims to create circular solutions in a B2B model.  “In the face of products that contribute disproportionately to the planet’s problems, we’re working on a bold idea that will create truly circular and sustainable alternatives,” Quis writes in a company blog.

The company did not disclose the size of the funding, which saw participation from We Are Human, TRK, StartupLab Founders and Firda.

Interest in mycelium has been gaining momentum, particularly in alternative protein and fashion end markets.
