In Washington, Platts reports that analysts believe some oil refiners in the US to be closely watching the shifting policy landscape to favor more use of sustainable aviation fuel and as a result are considering adding SAF production to their renewable diesel conversion plans. Shell announced last week a similar plan in Rotterdam. With fossil-based jet fuel and diesel priced similarly, one analyst said that in order to make SAF production competitive alongside renewable diesel production, SAF subsidies will need to be higher.
