Chhattisgarh denied permission to produce ethanol from rice paddy yet again

In India, the ANI news agency reports the central government has denied Chhattisgarh permission to produce ethanol from rice paddy. The state is a key rice producer with surplus supplies that it says it can use for ethanol production and needs to in order to provide better prices for its rice farmers. The state’s chief minister has been seeking permission to use paddy as feedstock for 2.5 years but the request has been repeatedly denied.
