October 11, 2021 |

Opponents to the project are concerned it will ruin the pristine nature of the Catskill Mountains as well as water quality for New York City residents whose water is sourced from reservoirs in the area. The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation decided last month a full environmental impact assessment for the project was required due to its having enough potential risks to merit one.
