CS Brazil hydrous ethanol ex-mill and pump prices at record highs

November 2, 2021 |

In Brazil, Platts reports hydrous ethanol prices reached yet another high on Oct. 28 at $810.62 per cubic meter, up 86% this year, driven by tight stocks and a return to pre-COVID demand levels. Anhydrous ethanol is also up 80% on the year at $801.89 on the same date. It’s not yet clear how high prices will go before they result in demand destruction but with the harvest coming to an end in the next month, the likelihood of significant supplies to get through the inter-harvest period until crushing starts again in March is unlikely.
