Raizen and Shell to supply Ferrari F1 with 2G ethanol from next year

In Brazil, Reuters reports that Raizen and Shell have signed an agreement to supply cellulosic-based ethanol to the Ferrari Formula 1 team when it starts racing on 10% ethanol next year. Shell has a 70-year-old partnership with Ferrari while Shell’s JV Raizen produces sugarcane bagasse-based ethanol reduces GHG emissions by 86% and is one of the only 2G ethanols produced in commercial volumes currently. Raizen is currently building its second 2G ethanol facility but could have as many as 35 of them that would increase production volumes by 50% without adding additional area under sugarcane.
