EPA may allow refiners more time to comply with 2021 and 2022 RVOs

In Washington, Reuters reports the Environmental Protection Agency wants oil refiners to have more time to comply with their renewable volume obligations for 2021 and 2022 as a way to help those refiners who have been shorting the RIN market in hopes for lower mandates. Reuters had previously reported that oil companies were seen shorting the RIN market to such an extent they believed there was no other option but for the Biden Administration to cut the mandate or bail out the companies to avoid massive shutdowns.
