Algae crop protection BETO workshop report now available

November 20, 2021 |

In Washington, D.C., a report from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office’s “Barriers to Scale: Algae Crop Protection Workshop” is now available and covers the topic of algae crop protection to facilitate scaling of the algae industry. Developing effective strategies to maintain harvest yield over time is essential to meeting BETO’s long-term goals of promoting cost competitive biofuels and bioproducts.

The April 2021 workshop convened experts in algal research and production, as well as from those outside the algae industry, to explore strategies for reducing the impact of pests on culture stability, biomass quality, and productivity.

The report summarizes information from presentations, panel sessions, and stakeholder input collected at the event. Presentations from the event can be found along with this new report on the Barriers to Scale: Algae Crop Protection Workshop page.
